LG OLED pixels switch completely off to create perfect black and therefore infinite contrast, resulting in natural, lifelike images with bolder colors. LG’s critically-acclaimed webOS smart TV platform has been improved in the 77W7 to make connectivity even easier. webOS 3.5 allows consumers to pair smartphones with their TV, and it will retain the device to automatically pair again when used on subsequent occasions. The paired phone can act both as a remote or a content portal, meaning consumers can display video or even phone applications from their phones directly on the big screen. webOS 3.5 also allows users to pair their PCs for screen sharing. Additional connectivity feature options include DLNA, WiDi and Miracast for an array of streaming and sharing capabilities.

The 77W7 boasts the updated webOS 3.5 smart TV platform which makes switching between content options – including broadcast TV, streaming services and external devices – simple and fast. New in 2017 is Magic Link, which allows consumers to quickly find related videos and content on YouTube or from other sources (e.g. TV channels), by using the 1-step Magic Link hot key on the remote. Quick Apps streamlines access to content through use of hot keys on the remote and Magic Zoom offers recording features alongside zoom capabilities. The 77W7 also supports all existing HDR formats, including HDR10, Dolby Vision, and HLG.

To further enhance the user experience, the Magic Remote, LG’s “air-mouse”-like remote that has quickly become an industry standard, has been improved in the 77W7. In 2016, LG upgraded the Smart remote to include Quick Access and Magic Link control interfaces. Quick Access grants easy access to users’ favorite content while Magic Link simplifies the search process by aligning it with the content that is currently onscreen.
