Huge Guest House
This 14,000 square foot home located on 90-acre site in Castle Pines, Colorado is fully equipped with Crestron lighting, audio, video, surveillance, security, and home automation. The homeowner was referred to Logic Integration by a long time builder relationship. For this project, the importance of an incredibly easy-to-use control system with high-end, whole house audio and a pro audio line array experience was emphasized by the client.
These homeowners knew they wanted home automation throughout their home with a heavy emphasis on the audio portion. This mega-project required significant planning and communication between the Logic Integration team and the client to ensure an easy-to-use, custom experience. The audio inside and outside the home needed to be able to get big with out being seen. The home must be ready to go at anytime for last minute events.
With the technology being used daily by the family members and guests, it was essential that each user could quickly select a room and an action. Logic Integration worked closely with the homeowners to ensure the intuitiveness of their iPad interface and the layout for the 16 x 16 room digital control system. Each family member was given their own unique user code and the ability to sign in to a user interface designed for them. This enabled the system to easily support parent controls and make sure each user is comfortable when using the system. Additionally, climate control, locking/unlocking doors, and an intercom system are built into each user's iPad. A concert worthy QSC Line Array audio system was hung in the great hall with dedicated amplifiers and DSP processing. The outdoor audio has a total of 18 speakers with subwoofers in the ground as well. This home is remotely managed by Logic Integration’s IT team.
Client wanted all-in-one interface for all subsystems throughout the house. To have clean and sleek products throughout the facility that would blend in and fit the interior design. Another important feature of the system was to provide stunning audio and visual performance in almost all the rooms in the facility. This included a high impact audio system in the great room. The client wanted to be able to turn up the audio in the large great room and impress his guests with high quality performance of a concert venue, and that he got using commercial grade audio equipment. The client can stand in any area of the room and not have any dead spots as well as bass in your chest that is clean and not distorted. The room is a multi use room with a grand piano, a performance area for a small band, and areas for Sporting event viewing. Another big objective was to create an outdoor living space with amazing audio and video, all controlled wirelessly while roaming outside. The client wanted to be able to hear and feel the audio system inside the pool! Using in ground subs and multiple speakers around the pool, that check box was also achieved! System has 16 zones of 4k Video, 19 audio zones, 180+ loads of centralized lighting, HVAC control, 12 HD surveillance cameras, large outdoor audio system.
From door locks to security to surveillance cameras, the facility can be turned on and viewed from any smart phone the customer allows. If during entertaining or before entertaining the customer wants to change lighting seen adding zones changing brightness or grouping zones together, this can be done without a programmer. From any touch panel or iPad throughout the facility the customer can change the scenes on the fly.
If the customer disarms the alarm he can choose which lights come on and what the house does. When leaving the home when hitting all off it can turn off all the lights all the TVs all the audio and shut down most components in the rack to save energy. This can happen well arming the alarm as well, since the alarm system talk to the automation system

• How the systems and components were integrated physically and aesthetically into the architecture of the structure
The large-scale audio system in the great hall was designed to be concealed as much as possible up in the high ceilings. The speaker riggings weigh over 600 lbs each, so rigging and pro-grade support were needed to hold the speaker systems. They also needed to be tucked up in the ceiling so they are out of sight and this was a challenge! Logic’s engineering team made custom designed brackets to achieve this goal. The system featured almost all dimmable LED lighting. The lighting needed to be a nice warm color for 2700k-color scheme was important to the interior design and atmosphere. 4k TV’s and ceiling speakers were concealed and integrated throughout the home thanks to the interior designer Kimberly Timmons. The large speakers for the outside system were in ground, concealed in the landscaping so there is big sound but nothing obtrusive to see when looking at the landscape of the property. The exercise room features multiple 4k displays mounted over the large mirrors. Surveillance cameras were also strategically placed around the property for optimal viewing, but not obtrusive to the beautiful architecture. The garage bays feature Sonance in-ceiling Architectural Series Discreet Opening System speakers for big sound that is not seen.
• Improvements in quality of life for the customer
The customer complimented the ease of use while hosting parties. The customer or a brand-new user can set up the space quickly with just the push of a button. Multiple rooms can be set up instantly from any touch panel in the house. Lighting and audio presets are great for different type of events. From fundraisers to football games the automation system is very flexible and reliable each for each new event.
• Intuitiveness and ease of use functions
The large master controller in the kitchen is the grand command center for the entire house along with multiple roaming ipads, in wall touch panels, and custom mobile devices. Each interface has the exact same GUI. The only difference between the rest of the touch panels and the large one in the kitchen is the size of the screen and real estate. The kitchen panel also features preview for all video sources.

Compared to other automation systems we have owned in the past, this has been my favorite for sure. The system is very easy to use no matter what room we are in. The audio and video quality is beyond our expectations. I have never heard anything comparable to the sound system in my Great Hall and outdoor system. If I were to compare it to anything, it would be like attending a Concert at Red Rocks! The fundraiser events and gatherings we have hosted have been a wonderful experience in our new automated entertainment space. Thanks to the Logic Integration team for a job well done!
