Empty Nesters Reclaim the Kids’ Play Room
The primary music listening room was located on the main floor of the house, where the aesthetics and interior design prevented the use of more conventional acoustical treatments. Also, being adjacent room to the primary TV viewing room, made it impractical to use both spaces simultaneously. Another issue was space for the growing vinyl LP collection. The room has more purpose and function than ever before and the clients are delighted to enjoy the views, the open air design and "very noticeable" difference in sound of this room, versus other rooms, with much more expensive equipment.
Control4 is setup to operate the 5.1.2 Atmos System and associated video equipment and lighting control.
- One button operation for watching any video source, e.g., Direct TV, Blu-Ray, Apple TV, Netflix, Vudu, Plex, HBO Go.
- 5 zones of lighting control for flexible dimming options based on based on the use of the space.

The private lower level walkout rec room with stunning rolling hill views has always been the kid's haven for Xbox and Playstation Gaming, Skeeball, and a place to hang out with friends to watch TV. This empty nest couple wanted to redo the room entirely, e.g., new paint, new "adult" furniture and fixtures and most importantly, utilize this room for the client's two passions, listening to 2 Channel Audio, watching films, reading and enjoying the open air lower deck. Function over form, with attractive , but visible, acoustical panels, bass traps and diffusers and lots of LP storage!
"We wanted to transform this room from a "kid space" to an "adult space". EDG did just that! We are able to not only watch TV, but also listen to our record collection. It is a perfect entertaining area when the weather is nice because now we can utilize our lower deck and have a real "in-door-outdoor" entertaining experience. EDG went above and beyond with ease of the system as well as aesthetics."
