Hewlett NY Project
We took over a project wired by someone else who was unable to finish. The home was completely finished structure wise, including the basement, and was being lived in. Most of the technology was not finished, or working plus they wanted a considerable amount of additional features that involved running, extending or converting wire throughout the house without doing any damage to the finished walls and ceilings.
We added an 11 camera IP based FLIR camera system
A Grandstream IP based telephone with front and side door intercom system
An outdoor Sunbrite TV with an additional DVC speaker for audio
Additional TV's in the kitchen, office and their basement gym, while adding local gaming ports for the existing kids bedroom TV's and basement theater.
A full theater in the basement & finished the surround sound in the master bedroom
A strong wi-fi system that extends to the back yard
The overall goal was to also use systems and components to get as much of the system integrated together as possible, but also make using the system easy with a simple learning curve.
For the camera system, we found a category 5 wire in the attic where we placed a Luxul POE switch to feed several cameras at the upper roof levels of the house. We also had to run wire from the attic down through the walls to get a camera down to watch the rear patio. We had to find and extend wires in the rear patio overhang to get additional cameras in place there too. We had to run additional cat5 wires throughout the garage to get 2 cameras in place for the driveway area. We had to move wires around the front entryway to get a camera at the front door and intercom station
We added a Sunbrite TV on the rear patio over the fire place along with an outdoor speaker. We found cat5 wire in the overhang and had it extended to the TV location then used HDMI baluns by Snap AV for the video, and audio balun to convert line level audio from the basement control room to a small Snap AV amplifier we installed in the overhang with the HDMI balun. We had to free up a network line in the office above the basement gym using a trendnet ethernet over power line to then use that wire to bring video to the basement gym below for a TV. We added a TV to the office using a category 5 wire and another Snap AV HDMI balun
We set up a home theater in the basement using some of the existing ceiling speaker wires, along with running new wires for 2 in wall subs, front speaker bar, and Grand Stream IP phone. We removed baseboard molding in the room to get wires around since the ceiling and walls were completely foamed.
We did the same to get wires to the water valve room to install an automated KZ water valve which was located in the far left corner of the theater, along with identifying and extending cat5 wires to strategic locations to place flood sensors. We have flood sensors at attic air handlers, 2nd floor and basement laundry locations, and basement boiler room
We also had to identify wiring issues with the security and life safety system and correct them to get our Leviton Omni PRO II system in place and up and running. We idenfied and or ran cat5e to specific locations for 4 Omni Touch 7 touch screens and in wall notification speakers.
We used all possible types of equipment to get wire around from snakes, sticks, Magnetic pullers etc to get the job done without any damage. We removed moldings wherever necessary to snake and bury wire to get from one point to the other too.
The camera system and home theater operate independently of the rest of the house, but all other functions have been integrated on a Leviton Omni ProII automation system. All the security and life safety, front door and internal intercom worked together with Grand stream and Omni touch 7 screens throutghout the house.
The 4 bedrooms, master bedroom, office, kitchen, gym and back patio TV's all worked off of 2 Snap AV 4x4 HDMI Balun kits and splitters where we had to share outputs.
There is now a HEOS house audio system using 2 HEOS 4 zone rack mounted amplifiers, along with 2 Heos Link units for the rear patio and master bedroom surround sound, all controlled by the app on their phones and i pads. All house features are on their I phones and Pads : Leviton's Omni system, Heos house audio, FLIR cameras.
Their basement theater is controlled by a Harmony remote.
Since most of the home's critical functions are on the Leviton Omni app, all features like security, lighting, temperature are all easily controlled and adjusted all in one place.
It didn't take long to demonstrate to the home owner and family the ease of use of all the systems in place. We also supply our Leviton omni system "How to, what to do booklet, that guides them through the in's and outs of the system
The customer was thrilled by the end of the project that they were able to have all of the things they hoped for and more, considering the house was completely finished when we got there, without doing any damage to the existing structure.
Dear Stephen Merola (Futuristic Home ):
I have to say how you and your company has changed our lives. In short, two years ago, we started on an endeavor to build our dream home. We first ran into issues with our original automation contractor who disappeared on us after wiring up our home. After looking for many new Automation contractors, we were highly recommended to Futuristic Home and could not of been more happier from our initial introduction. Stephen was very knowledgeable in his expertise. He knew he was going to have a difficult job in using the existing wiring since he came after all the walls were closed and painted. He was able to give us the best alarm, smoke, water, carbon detection system around. He was able to combine, All my lighting, alarm camera air conditioning and heat integrated to my phone and control panels throughout my home. Futuristic home build us a wonderful theater which is all integrated into one controller.
Overall, the work ethics of Stephen and his employees are incredible and there ability to get the job done was not an issue When they left for the day, my home was spotless like you would have not even known they were there. They came when they said they were coming and to this day I can call them my friends. I would recommend you highly to anyone that needs a great automation company.
Best
