Middle Atlantic Products Select Series PDU with RackLink™ delivers new intelligent power solutions in unique vertical options and compact, half rack and horizontal form factors. Allowing local or remote IP control and monitoring, the RackLink-enabled solutions are simple, cost-effective alternatives to upgrading basic power distribution to intelligent outlet control.
The Select Series PDU with RackLink power distribution is a value-oriented IP power hardware solution. Ideal for small to large enclosures in residential applications, the series is comprised of five vertical, compact, and traditional rackmount models that simplify installation and reduce the cost of service by providing intelligent power optimized for AV systems. The five 15-amp models include a two-outlet compact, four-outlet rackmount, nine-outlet rackmount, 10-outlet low-profile vertical, and 16-outlet vertical. Middle Atlantic Product’s RackLink is designed to ensure system reliability and uptime through the use of intuitive setup and operation, pre-emptive problem notification and automatic problem resolution. Integrated within the new Select Series PDU, it creates a simple and cost-effective solution that puts intelligent control of power distribution right at the integrator's fingertips, anywhere in the world. The ability to choose to control locally or virtually, via third-party control system, or cloud, ensures system uptime and reliability while maximizing the integrator's productivity. Additional Select Series PDU with RackLink features include control start-up and/or shut-down with remote sequencing, multiple IP autoping functionality, and MOV surge and spike protection.
AV, security, and networking systems in a home may consume large amounts of energy when they are in use, but also waste energy when they are not. No matter how energy efficient a powered component is, off is the most efficient status. Existing energy management solutions only allow wall-outlet power control, not control of the individual components connected to the power solution. Middle Atlantic Products’ new Select Series PDU with RackLink solves this problem. It is a basic, IP-controlled, power product that is designed to replace existing power distribution solutions that do not permit IP control of outlets. By implementing IP-controlled outlets in as many locations as possible around a home, integrators and homeowners can reduce energy consumption by changing the power state of connected equipment as easily as they can change a TV channel — directly or through home automation.
Equipment can be powered down at certain times of the day, based on activity and occupancy, or as an entire system in response to an input. This energy savings can be simply calculated during the design phase of a project or retrofit by calculating the system load and multiplying by the percentage of time a component or system will be shut down. The amount of power saved is directly related to the automation of the system – permitting a competitive advantage for savvy integrators and significant energy savings for demanding homeowners.
The Select Series PDU with RackLink provides integrators with a value-oriented power distribution option with robust intelligent power capabilities. The key innovation behind the series is the breadth of form factors available to integrators and designers, which allows them to retrofit existing AV, security, and networking systems with IP-controlled outlets or easily design them into the next project. The vertical models introduce a compact, low-profile design similar in size to a power strip, allowing them to be easily and efficiently positioned in even a densely packed rack without any special mounting hardware. The compact models are ideal for small enclosures where space is at a premium such as inside structured wiring cans and behind monitors while the horizontal options meet the power needs of traditional rack systems. The universal compatibility and diverse form factors of the solution permit integrators and designers the capability to power more equipment than standard wall outlet control options. With an intuitive interface and universal compatibility with every available home control system and third-party gateway, the hardware is designed for immediate retrofit and as a foundation for future designs.
Here are a couple of examples of power-saving applications:
· With IP controlled outlets, an integrator can program a home automation system to shut down power to all AV and non-critical networking equipment when the home is secured in “away” mode. This is especially important for systems that include amplifiers, servers, projectors, displays, and other active AV elements that consume power or have reduced life with extended use.
· For network security applications, wireless access points, storage systems and vulnerable networked components can be shut down when not in use to prevent unauthorized access. With automatic IP port pinging and multiple recovery options, critical network and security equipment can be automatically rebooted, in sequence, if unresponsive.
