202 Molasses

Tired of living in a multi-floor house, this “baby boomer” wanted to right-size in a single story home with all the conveniences afforded by modern day devices.
Purchasing a home built in the 1950’s she planned to have the home “gutted” down to the framing members also removing walls in order to open up the home and seeking solutions for acoustic isolation of the master suite.
Rebuilding from the ground up, she wanted heated floors, raised ceiling heights, and replacement of every element of the existing plumbing, heating & air, electrical, and antiquated entertainment.
Aesthetically, her instructions were to maintain the integrity of the home’s “look” from the street view, but wanted a transformative “wow” factor when you entered the house or backyard. She designated various areas with specific elements to be the focal points.
Philanthropically, she used the house to entertain in various endeavors. To that end, she sought a certain “flow” and consistency throughout the home. Being an avid music enthusiast, she had an extensive music collection ranging from vinyl LPs to reel-to-reel tape recordings. Having experienced the conveniences of modern day technology, she wanted to incorporate her old media formats with newer versions.
Familiar with remote control features she was frustrated with multiple remotes and apps of the various systems. She was seeking control consolidation crossing multiple conventional and non-conventional platforms over her “smart” devices and Echo Dot.
Data network speed was important, so much so that she engaged multiple service providers in commercial level service agreements.
Possessing a stained-glass window from her church, she sought ideas in which to display it, triggering an expanded desire to control all lights for scenes and automated functions.
Foresight to address security concerns, she wanted basic home security, as well as outside parameter camera viewing (and recording), and keyless entry.

Andrew Lucas Virtual Show Room
(To view the images, please click on the product/project name.)
The Andrew Lucas virtual smart home was conceived as a way to help potential customers gain insight into how a smart home can be integrated into a home without being intrusive and improve their lives in the process, all without the need for them to visit a showroom. Instead, a virtual reality experience was created that could be brought to the client in their homes, letting them explore a smart home in its entirety and learn more about the various types of technology that could be installed in their new properties.
Andrew Lucas London commissioned its VR design division – Andrew Lucas Studios – to create the following:
– A fully animated, completely explorable VR home experience on the Oculus Rift platform, which allowed the user to interact with a whole property inside and out, including a home cinema/virtual reality room.
– A lighter version of the VR home experience with a number of fixed viewpoints, which could be viewed using a mobile headset or on a screen via a web browser. This included a limited number of animated interaction points and reduced resolution to keep the build light and quick to load.

Basement Media Room Remodel
(To view the images, please click on the product/project name.)
For this project, Lelch Audio Video created a brand new entertainment space in a refurbished basement so the family could come together and host friends. We divided up the basement into two distinct areas: a media room and bar. It was necessary to design a two-zone system since the family wanted both areas to be standalone while retaining the ability to manage them together. This way, some of the family could enjoy a movie in the media room while others watched a game at the bar.
To create the ultimate escape for this family, we integrated high-performance Paradigm speakers in both the media room and bar AV systems. The media room showcases a 119-inch screen, ceiling-mount projector, and 5.1 surround sound. For the bar, the family wanted us to incorporate a Samsung TV they already owned. All of the basement’s speakers link back to the house’s main whole home audio system.
For control, it was important to the family to have a fluid solution for added ease-of-use. We had already installed a Control4 system for audio, lights, security and more in their main-level family room, bedroom, and kitchen. We extended that system to the brand new media room in the basement so they could stick with the control solutions they liked.
We wanted to make it easy for the family to pull up and watch their favorite entertainment. Since they planned on using a Roku stick and Apple TV, we also needed to add a strong networking foundation to the basement. This way, the client could take advantage of streaming services without having to worry about any lagging signals when watching movies, catching up with their favorite shows or listening to music.

Boston Suburbs Luxury Home
(To view the images, please click on the product/project name.)
For this 16,000 square foot new construction home, ACT designed, installed and integrated a home control system; distributed video with 26 zones; distributed audio with 27 zones; climate control; a surveillance system; a computer network; a driveway sensor; a lightning protection system and a doorphone/camera system.
Already Apple users, the family mastered the Savant Systems control system quickly. They can use their existing iPhones and iPads to control the electronics, which can also be controlled remotely from anywhere in the world.
This project included some fun, unique features. Two televisions are installed behind media mirrors – one in a bar area and the other in the master bathroom. Televisions in matching, custom wood frames are installed on both sides of a double fireplace. The great room’s TV was installed on a lift and hides in a cabinet when not in use. A custom home movie theater provides a fun place to gather for family movie night. Hidden wireless thermostats connect with temperature sensors tucked throughout the home to keep the walls clear.
ACT also integrated a few outdoor features with the control system. The family can use the Savant system to control the swimming pool’s heat, fountain and infinity edge waterfall. Doorphones with cameras were installed at the property’s main gate and the home’s main entrance, which allows the family to see who’s at the door and talk with them. ACT also integrated the doorphone’s camera footage with the networked video recorder in case the family needs to see who approached when no one was home. Finally, a driveway sensor alerts the family when a car pulls in the driveway by sounding a chime over the audio system.
The convenience and fun the electronics offer enhances the family’s lifestyle and increases their enjoyment of the home.

Cape Cod Cinematheque
(To view the images, please click on the product/project name.)
A family of movie lovers wanted a home theater that rivaled any custom home theater and far exceeded any local commercial theater, but with the added bonus of luxury seating, a nearby wet-bar, and easy operation with a control system. Cape Cod Cinematheque uses state-of-the-art acoustical treatments to optimize the sound within the space, and to prevent the sound from disturbing the family room above. The room was specifically built to prevent vibrations, yet hits all the high and low notes.
The bespoke theater is exquisitely designed with Cinematech seating that comfortably holds 16 people. It includes two custom chaise lounges in the front row and five single-person seats with full armrests and glass tray tables in each of the second and third rows. The fiber optic ceiling features a dimmable twinkling starry night sky that is juxtaposed with a color-changing cove light. Additional LED column lighting, step lighting and ceiling down-lights create an authentic movie theater experience par excellence.
What sets this theater apart from others, however, is the ease of operation for every family member and guest. Whether using a tablet, smart phone or controller, every setting is at their fingertips. They can watch a movie or sporting event, play a video game, or just listen to music, with pre-sets customized to each family member.

Caruth Indoor-Outdoor Oasis
(To view the images, please click on the product/project name.)
The homeowners envisioned two outdoor living spaces, with each space visible from the interior of the home. The first space is a loggia separating the family room and the outdoors only by a wall of glass doors and windows, creating a virtual extension of the family room into the outdoor spaces.
For audio in the loggia, we installed 6” round Origin Acoustic speakers into the white boarded ceiling. A sleek, flat-mounted Samsung 65” Ultra 4K TV above the white brick fireplace can be enjoyed while entertaining friends and family in the loggia at the fireplace seating area, from the adjacent outdoor dining area, and can also be seen from inside the family room. The exterior lighting, pool lights and ceiling fans are all controlled by Lutron Radio Ra system; in addition to the quick control via the keypad just inside the loggia doors, just as easily the homeowner can work the whole house system from his RTI app on his iPad or iPhone.
The second outdoor space is a cabana beckoning from the far end of the pool. The homeowners and their guests can relax under cover while watching the Sunday afternoon game on the 65” Samsung TV, and with a Sonos Playbar mounted under the TV, the homeowner enjoys surround sound for the game as well as an enhanced quality of sound for streaming music in the cabana. A Sony Blu-ray player, an Apple TV, and two cable boxes are shared sources through an Atlona switch in the main home system.
Combining the ease of control with RTI remotes throughout the house in addition to in-wall iPads, Lutron light switches, and keypads, the homeowners enjoy the ease of entertaining throughout this outdoor paradise.

Ladies Lake is a unique property located in historic St. Andrews, Scotland. It commands 180-degree panoramic views of the bay and of Old Course, a world-famous golf course, as well as an ancient castle.
Pyramid AV designed and installed a home control system managed by Control4 incorporating seamless control of multi-zone audio and video systems, climate control, integration of under-floor heating & mechanical heat recovery, blinds & curtains, complex lighting, discrete video monitoring and door access, a remote HD ‘wildlife’ camera, gate and door security controls, and remote monitoring of the entire property – all via a simple Control4 user interface and app.
As part of the system, Pyramid AV also designed and installed a cutting-edge architectural lighting system for the entire property and grounds. Incorporating a host of modern lighting solutions, the energy-efficient, all-LED system was designed to not only enhance the stunning architecture and interior design, but also provide a unique circadian lighting system that mimics the natural sun’s light throughout the day.
This massive project features over 64 channels of universal dimming, 36 wired keypads, a large AV system featuring 13 independent music zones, and much more. The system is extensive, thoughtfully designed, and completely personalized.
From initial consultation to installation, Ladies Lake was a 30-month project for Pyramid AV. Managed and installed by an in-house team of engineers, they delivered their most complex and successful residential project in the UK.

Custom Home by AIC
(To view the images, please click on the product/project name.)
This project was designed to meet the clients expectations, that the home technology equipment operate without fail, as well as keeping each room in the home “clutter free” of bulky equipment. This required our team to coordinate with the builder and designer to ensure seamless concealing of as much high end audio/video and home automation equipment as possible.
The goal was to take this 3,500 sq. ft. home and cleverly disguise as much home technology as possible without comprising quality, or equipment effectiveness.
We designed a home automaton system consisting of:
- (8) distributed Audio Zones
- (4) 4K Distributed Video Zones
- (3) Smaller Audio/Video Equipment Racks Bolted Together
- BlueBolt battery backup and energy management system
- Massive network and WiFi coverage
- Hidden 4K Mirror TV with custom built back-box designed and installed by our technicians
We selected the Elan g! control system to best suit the needs of our client, which controls the clients audio, video, and future installations of lighting and shades. The user friendly GUI on the iPad control and the live TV guide, allows the homeowner to search and select programming on the app, while other users can continue to view the current programming without looking at the pop up menus on the TV.
The Audio Video system is completely hidden. We used (3) small audio video racks that we bolted together to house and hide all the equipment within a confined and hidden space. Furthermore, the use of BlueBolt’s energy management system and auto rebooting allows service of the system without the need to physically be on premise.

DC Modern Penthouse
(To view the images, please click on the product/project name.)
The design features of this home are striking and beautiful; from authentic monolithic fossils that are thousands of years old, a sauna room patterned in true Japanese fashion, a personal library with thousands of volumes, to the most modern design appointments available today. With this brilliant aesthetic chosen for the design of the home, the technology had to perfectly match and complement the unique design. The control platform of choice, Crestron, made this an effortless task by designing products that are sleek, modern and exciting. The technological elements chosen for the home blended competently with the décor and expertly maintained the overall aesthetic of the home.
In addition, there were several integration challenges that the control system needed to be programmed for. The client had several specific product requests including a rare Bang and Olufsen TV controlled with a proprietary rotary remote, a custom input panel hidden in a flip top touch panel for gaming entertainment, customized security entry, camera mounts and more. The control system provided a seamless way of integrating all of these components reliably and with an intuitive end-user experience. Controlling this home is a simple and thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Fischer
(To view the images, please click on the product/project name.)
The Fisher home theater is more of a media room, with an enclosed home theater space connected to a finished kitchen area. The clients wanted a dedicated theater, but the layout and construction of their basement posed challenges. We opted instead to propose a large space with an area sectioned-off for the theater, and then an open gathering area and kitchen in the adjoining space.
We used an enclave of the existing basement layout to serve as the kitchenette, complete with a sink, dishwasher, and refrigerator, along with ample counter and cabinet space.
We constructed a wall to separate the remaining 70% of the space into the dedicated theater, complete with three rows of love seats for theater seating, a Dolby Atmos system, and Sony projector. In addition to the technology in the space, this project was a unique theater installation because we completed the construction of the project, including moving the HVAC ducts, painting the walls, carpeting the floors, and completing all other trim work in addition to installing the electronics.
The clients were quite impressed with the end result, having delivered an immersive home theater experience plus an adjacent kitchen and sitting area, all within the existing space and budgetary requirements.

In particular, the newest addition to mountain living, The Vail Lion.
Prior to the grand opening of The Lion, Futurian Systems was approached to become the technology partner in providing all of the building’s new residencies with the latest in Smart Home Technologies. This was to include the latest in audio, video, phone, data, security, motorized shades, and home automation. The partnership was finalized and Futurian went to work on totally decking out the models with cutting-edge technologies to perfectly showcase its technical capabilities.
Futurian’s dedication to this project has met all of the customer’s needs by delivering the most incredible technologies in a fully integrated system. An awesome audio/video experience, comfort throughout, convenient connectivity everywhere, and safety that truly protects, gives all potential owners every option imaginable.
In the end the installation of Futurian’s Lion Model Technology has spread like wild fire throughout the Vail Valley. As recently featured on local TV station TV8, the Vail Daily, and personal interviews demonstrating the systems, the desire to further promote The Lion and the awesome technologies available has been met in all sense of the word.

Gary Sinise Foundation: Chris Walker Project
(To view the images, please click on the product/project name.)
The Gary Sinise Foundation leverages the most sophisticated smart home tech to provide a new level of at-home independence for wounded U.S. veterans. All donated R.I.S.E (Restoring Independence, Supporting Empowerment) homes include an automation system that is customized to offer remote access to the home’s lights, temperature, security, audio, video and more. The way in which the recipients access these controls - via voice, or with the swipe of a finger on a tablet - is entirely designed to suit them and their disability. Therefore, tasks such as turning the lights on or off, answering and opening the door, or changing the channel on the television are no longer an impossible feat to overcome. Instead, seamless access is built into their new homes.
This year, Arlington, Virginia-based integration firm Innovative AV was hired by the Gary Sinise Foundation to design and install a fully customized smart home system that would allow injured war veteran US Army SSG Christopher Walker in Arlington, Virginia, more independence in his home. Lead installer Jon Linville relied on a donated ELAN control system, integrated with Amazon Alexa, to serve as the sophisticated system’s control hub. Now, all of the home’s sub-systems, including audio, video, lighting, climate, and security, are integrated into the system for customized access via touch or voice.

Healthiest Smart Home in Manhattan
(To view the images, please click on the product/project name.)
This project is a gut renovation transformation of a floor-through loft with Romanesque Revival details spanning 3,000 square feet in a beautiful former warehouse, built in 1884, in the Tribeca district of Manhattan into a chic and modern apartment with the latest smart home technology. It took close collaboration between our team and the architect, designer, and contractor to realize the vision of the homeowner. Enter the home via private keyed elevator and the lights automatically turn on as programmed revealing the massive great room lit by arched, east-facing windows delivering lovely views of the treetops outside. The smart home aspect of the remodel required close coordination with all core team members to ensure that the installation and performance could match the quality of the premium brand hardware utilized for the project. Some key aspects of the design include: Lutron Caseta Smart Lighting System, 8 Hartmann & Forbes Somfy controlled automated shades, Sonos Wireless Home Theater setup (Playbar, SUB, 2 One's) in Great Room and Master Bedroom; 4 Sony 4k Smart TV's, 3 zones of climate control tied to an air quality monitor system, whole house humidifier and medical grade whole house air filtration system to automate indoor air quality, Nest Cam IQ with cloud storage, and a dual mesh network WiFi coverage (1 for personal and 1 for IoT devices).
The homeowners do a lot of entertaining but they were not looking for a high-end whole house music system so we chose the simple-to-use Sonos ecosystem for their dual theater setup as well as several Amazon Alexa enabled One speakers to be placed throughout the apartment. Bringing power to each of the 8 floor-to-ceiling Hartmann & Forbes shades required running wiring from the centrally located power panel to opposite ends of the unit and carving out some of the grout on the brick wall to hide the wiring and re-grout over the wiring was necessary to hide all the wiring. Cat6, RG6, and HDMI cables were run to all four TV locations.
We hope that what was accomplished during this project will bring more exposure to how the latest smart home technology can help families, especially those suffering from asthma, allergies and respiratory issues, become more healthy.

Highbury
(To view the images, please click on the product/project name.)
Lighting control was of paramount importance in Highbury, a beautiful modern smart home nestled in the suburbs of North London. With copious amounts of natural light, thanks to the inclusion of several floor-to-ceiling windows, skylights and lightwells and motorised blinds and curtains all have an important part to play in ensuring that the property remains cool in summer and warm in winter.
Meanwhile, lighting management around the house needed to be simple enough for the whole family to use while remaining sensitive to the design of a home that ranged from light-filled open-plan spaces to entertainment spaces without natural light. As part of this, tailored lighting scenes were devised for each room to allow the various lighting fixtures to be combined in different ways to reflect the activities of the occupants.
Our design required us to integrate the following:
• 0-10v lighting circuits and Lutron lighting control
• Custom flush-mounted keypad solutions
• Whole house touchscreen control
• Lutron motorised shading and curtain track solutions
• Whole-room control with Crestron interface

Highbury
(To view the images, please click on the product/project name.)
With the home cinema at Highbury, the homeowners wanted to create a multi-sensory cinematic experience without compromise. Tucked into the basement of a stunning modern smart home, this home cinema contrasts a sophisticated design with fully custom cinema loudspeakers concealed behind acoustically transparent panels in the walls and ceiling. The entire speaker system speaker system was designed and carefully engineered by Andrew Lucas’ Andreas Brusberg (renowned for building the audio system at the Fryderyk Chopin Institute) and calculated precisely to meet the exact acoustic demands of the room.
Our design required us to integrate the following:
• Sony 4K projection system
• Lutron lighting circuits
• Whole-room control with Crestron interface
• Integra DRX-4-CI AVR with multiple media sources
• Rotel RKB-850-CI 8-channel power amps
• Custom-build 3D audio surround-sound speaker system built into joinery
• Custom subwoofers built into joinery
• Specialist acoustic treatment
• VPL-VW320ES/B-CI Sony home cinema projector with dual-fan ventilation system
• 106” acoustically transparent fixed screen
