Beale Street Audio’s In-ceiling Sonic Vortex Speaker (model IC6-MB) offers practical innovation and remarkable performance from an architectural audio solution. The IC6-MB in-ceiling speakers feature Beale Street Audio’s patented Sonic Vortex technology which provides room-energizing bass and unprecedented dynamic control that compete with freestanding speakers, without taking up floor space.
Beale Street Audio is redefining the performance standard for architectural speakers and amplifiers by introducing real innovation to a category that has not seen anything fresh for a long time. Most Beale Street Audio speakers feature patented Sonic VortexTM Technology, a unique enclosure design that produces unprecedented levels of bass output and room energizing dynamics from in-wall and in-ceiling speakers.
Beale Street Audio’s In-ceiling Sonic Vortex Speaker (model IC6-MB) offers practical innovation and remarkable performance from an architectural audio solution. Beale Street Audio’s in-ceiling speaker requires no back-box or external bracing thanks to its own Sonic Vortex powered integrated enclosure, yet still provides incredible impact, slam, and dynamic response.
By moving air more efficiently through multiple cabinet ports in the enclosure, Beale Street Audio’s new speaker virtually eliminates the energy transfer from the driver to the enclosure, yet still produces immersive, room-energizing audio. Separating the main port of the enclosure into multiple sections called “fins” that are tuned using acoustic algorithms to ideal listening specifications, the fins compress and move air at a high rate of speed without port noise and also add to the cabinet’s rigidity. Simply put, the end of the speaker enclosure opposite the driver itself splits and spins the air inside the cabinet into six chambers, which corkscrew around the exterior of the enclosure itself. This has two effects. First, it effectively gives each speaker six incredibly long-tuned ports, which extend bass response considerably. Second, it also gives the speakers a broad dispersion pattern and incredible clarity – even off axis.
Benefits to the Homeowner
A homeowner may choose to install in-ceiling speakers for a number of different reasons but one major benefit to installing the Beale Street Audio in-ceiling speakers is to achieve the same level of core-rattling, room filling audio immersion from a solution that takes up absolutely zero floor space. Floor-standing speakers can be large, cumbersome, and difficult to move but thanks to Beale Street Audio’s Sonic Vortex technology, the IC6-MB in-ceiling speakers deliver all of the boom of a traditional speaker system, and take up zero inches of the floorplan.
Along with being affordably priced and easy to install, Beale Street Audio in-ceiling speakers powered by Sonic Vortex are also highly scalable. Infinite variable designs for both cabinet air volume and port dimensions allows for flexible industrial design options. The depth and width of the integrated enclosure can vary based on the models, while still providing enhanced bass and better overall performance compared to similar products. The new speakers are also amplifier-friendly since they sound and perform like a sealed speaker cabinet with the same impedance curve.
Also, because Sonic Vortex drastically reduces driver motion and cabinet vibrations, homeowners can rest easy knowing that Beale Street Audio speakers and even subwoofers can often be installed directly into the dry wall without the need for complicated and expensive backboxes or internal bracing and without fear of damaging walls or ceilings.
Benefits to the Integrator
For the integrator, it’s important to have solutions that are affordably priced, easy to install, and flexible. Beale Street Audio in-ceiling speakers powered by Sonic Vortex are highly scalable.
When integrators install Beale Street Audio’s in-ceiling speakers, such as the IC6-MB, they’re installing a solution that’s unlike any other in-ceiling solution out there. Sonic Vortex is the key technology behind Beale Street Audio’s in-wall and in-ceiling speaker lines and is literally a twist on the traditional ported enclosed design, with roots based in transmission line technology. With Sonic Vortex, the single main port of the speaker’s enclosure is separated into multiple smaller ports and spread throughout multiple stacked sections called “fins” that are tuned to spec. The fins compress and move air at a high rate of speed without port noise and also add to cabinet rigidity.
The end result? Speakers that produce deep, rich bass and exceptional clarity that you would not expect out of such a small enclosure with flatter frequency res6ponse and a 6 to 9 db boost in the mid-lower bass ranges compared to sealed enclosure or traditional ported models. Since Sonic Vortex does not require expensive rare earth metals or cost-prohibitive development, Beale Street Audio dealers can sell differentiating performance at a value. It also allows integrators to install a smaller footprint speaker and get the performance of a larger size speaker that they might normally use.
