Custom Smart Home for Wounded Warrior U.S. Marine Corps Major Eric Burkett

       This project is the development of a customized specially adapted smart home designed in partnership with the Gary Sinise Foundation R.I.S.E. (Restoring Independence Supporting Empowerment) program, to specifically address the needs of wounded veteran, U.S. Marine Corps Major Eric Burkett. After a plane crash in Morocco resulted in the amputation of both his legs, the Gary Sinise Foundation R.I.S.E. program gifted Burkett a custom smart home to help simplify his everyday life and regain his independence.

To do this, during the building process, an ELAN Entertainment & Control system was installed for control and automation of the home’s audio, video, lighting, security, HVAC and more.
