Milo by Hogar Controls is a voice-powered smart home hub with Z-Wave, Zigbee, Wi-Fi & Bluetooth along with Google Assistant built-in. The Milo Smart Speaker includes far-field hands-free voice recognition and a 3D Touch Button on top for quick control of devices including music, lights, shades and locks and thermostats.
Milo by Hogar Controls is the first-ever smart speaker / smart home hub combination device to include support for Z-Wave, Zigbee, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth devices. Milo allows up to 200 smart home devices to be controlled by Google Assistant, a voice control AI platform when combined with a smart home hub creates an all-in-one solution for easy home control.
The Milo Smart Speaker features a compact design and sleek hardware along with stylish black or white fabric wraps to fit nicely into any room. Milo features an aluminum brim and a glass touchscreen top to give a premium feel at a friendly price. Powering technology from Hogar Control’s Pebble, Milo features a 3D touch button on the top of the device that gives users control of up to 10 devices or scenes through quick taps or gestures.
Milo represents a complete shift in the design of smart home technology; with the rise of the smart speaker, consumers still need to pay to connect their devices through a hub if they want to avoid multiple app control. Milo by Hogar Controls delivers hub functionality through one user-friendly app and robust voice control using Google’s global voice assistant platform.
Implementing the same audio technology used in Google’s own smart speaker, Milo features high excursion speakers with 2” drivers and dual 2” passive radiators for clear, crisp sound and deep bass. Milo will give users everything they like about a smart speaker, including integration with AirPlay, DLNA and Chrome Cast Audio so the device doubles as a home entertainment speaker in addition to its role as a hub.
The idea of a smart home hub is changing but the need to bridge different platforms through one single app is still needed. The idea behind Milo is to use the most versatile and globally recognized voice assistant on the market in partnership with Google and bring a diverse yet simplified set of smart home capabilities to one singular device.
At $99, Milo is a cost-effective way for consumers to start building a smart home, backed by the convenience of Google Home voice control and able to manage and control over 200 smart home devices. While voice control may be an important part of a smart home, there are also times when homeowners want to push a button to activate or control a device – but not necessarily via their smartphone app. Hogar Controls has built in the technology and form factor of the Pebble, their 3D touch button right on the top of the cylindrical smart speaker. With up to 10 possible combinations of touch and gesture, users can program scenes to activate multiple devices or to prompt simple actions like turning on the lights.
With full smart home hub functionality, the homeowner will be able to use Milo to integrate with any Z-Wave, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi device and many Zigbee devices all through one powerful and intuitive app. In addition to the software platform, Hogar has built a 3D touch button on the glass interface that sits atop Milo to provide quick access to scene control or even one-off device actions. Hogar Controls wants to offer consumers the easiest option for them when it comes to accessing and activating their smart home tech – through app, voice or touch.
Hogar Controls began its journey in smart home with a full home automation system. Rolling out in the U.S. in 2018, these products, including touch panels, sensors, HVAC control and a gateway will give the CE integrator an end-to-end home automation solution with a luxury look and feel with a moderate price point. The Milo Smart Speaker, though designed for the DIY market, will be a perfect addition to the Hogar pro line-up and give integrators the ability to add in voice control – a common request from consumers in many projects – but stay within the Hogar design aesthetic and functionality.
Milo by Hogar Controls will give integrators a compact device with powerful audio and the Google Assistant built-in at a $99 price, allowing them to easily install several around the home to extend voice control throughout any property. They can act as a complimentary home entertainment product as well, giving consumers access to their music and podcast library as well as get news, weather and quick information updates wherever they are in the home.
Milo also comes equipped with the 3D touch button on the glass interface on top of the device, giving users another point of control when voice commands aren’t desirable. Where an integrator might look to place another point of control for a customer in a bedroom or kitchen, Milo can act as both an AI-powered speaker and a mini controller.
