Cape Cod Cinematheque
A family of movie lovers wanted a home theater that rivaled any custom home theater and far exceeded any local commercial theater, but with the added bonus of luxury seating, a nearby wet-bar, and easy operation with a control system. Cape Cod Cinematheque uses state-of-the-art acoustical treatments to optimize the sound within the space, and to prevent the sound from disturbing the family room above. The room was specifically built to prevent vibrations, yet hits all the high and low notes.
The bespoke theater is exquisitely designed with Cinematech seating that comfortably holds 16 people. It includes two custom chaise lounges in the front row and five single-person seats with full armrests and glass tray tables in each of the second and third rows. The fiber optic ceiling features a dimmable twinkling starry night sky that is juxtaposed with a color-changing cove light. Additional LED column lighting, step lighting and ceiling down-lights create an authentic movie theater experience par excellence.
What sets this theater apart from others, however, is the ease of operation for every family member and guest. Whether using a tablet, smart phone or controller, every setting is at their fingertips. They can watch a movie or sporting event, play a video game, or just listen to music, with pre-sets customized to each family member.
The client requested a state-of-the-art dedicated home theater that would achieve the highest audio and video standards. The client specifically wanted an exciting and fun place for his family and guests to hang out and unwind. The home theater is on the lower level of the guest house, and the goal was for anyone in the space to lose oneself in the media experience entirely.
Ease of use, reliability and comfort were priorities for the project. While we presented three electronics packages for the theater, it became apparent early on that the client sought the best sound and images he could get. Therefore, the electronics are the latest versions of audio and video equipment on the market.
What you don’t see is just as impressive as what you do see. Behind the beautiful fabric panels are fiberglass panels that combine reflection and absorption characteristics, brilliantly keeping the sound in the room, which includes a completely decoupled ceiling. There is invisible but essential technology built-in throughout. Equipment is easily accessible in a nearby electrical closet.
• Floating ceiling using Kinetics Noise Control ISW Isolation hangers
• Cinematech ARS system for soundproofing
• JBL Synthesis Master ARCOS calibration
• Control4 Room Control System
The client uses the Control4 system daily to monitor every aspect of his home. In terms of this home theater, the Control4 system makes selecting the entertainment options available swift and easy for every family member and guests. The system is completely intuitive.
