Futurian Systems - The Lion
When you think of a legendary ski resort such as Vail, Colorado you might think more about the amazing terrain you could ski, or the great town in which you could have some of the best experiences in culinary arts, music, and more. However, most don’t think about the amazing real estate that resides within this small valley town that is absolutely mind blowing. In particular, the newest addition to mountain living, The Vail Lion.
Prior to the grand opening of The Lion, Futurian Systems was approached to become the technology partner in providing all of the building’s new residencies with the latest in Smart Home Technologies. This was to include the latest in audio, video, phone, data, security, motorized shades, and home automation. The partnership was finalized and Futurian went to work on totally decking out the models with cutting-edge technologies to perfectly showcase its technical capabilities.
Futurian’s dedication to this project has met all of the customer’s needs by delivering the most incredible technologies in a fully integrated system. An awesome audio/video experience, comfort throughout, convenient connectivity everywhere, and safety that truly protects, gives all potential owners every option imaginable.
In the end the installation of Futurian’s Lion Model Technology has spread like wild fire throughout the Vail Valley. As recently featured on local TV station TV8, the Vail Daily, and personal interviews demonstrating the systems, the desire to further promote The Lion and the awesome technologies available has been met in all sense of the word.
This beautiful model home demanded the most advanced technology to be perfectly demonstrated in the simplest way. The desire was to deliver a system experience that could truly enhance the lifestyle of an already jaw dropping space.
The challenge started immediately with the poor wiring originally installed in the building. Only a single coax was run to each TV, and very limited audio zones were planned for. Futurian had to immediately go to work in retrofitting a brand-new property with the more appropriate standards in low voltage wiring that fully support the best in audio/video distribution, networking, and control throughout
.
Once wiring had been updated, it was time to add all the glitz and glamor of technology solutions that would be sure to impress. First and foremost was the audio and video enhancements. Video was to include the latest 4K UHDTVs being served up with content from multiple sources, including Xfinity receivers, AppleTVs, and the Control 4 interface. Audio was to be first rate with architectural speakers blending into the ceiling delivering the richest audio throughout each and every room.
Lighting and climate control was a must. New owners certainly needed the ability to start warming up the place on their way in, while having the home perfectly lit upon entrance. Futurian accommodated the request by installing a combination of Control 4 lighting devices, thermostats, and motorized shades in each area. Therefore, allowing for the precise lighting scenes and the most comfortable climate to be activated before arriving to their perfect ski retreat.
Security was also a very important factor. With many of the residents expecting the building to provide the highest level of security, Futurian was asked to make sure and include devices that could record the events happening within the individual condos. All of these devices were to report the comings and goings of anyone who needed access. Integrated door locks, IP cameras, and other sensors provided this peace of mind.
The delivery of this awesome audio/video experience was fulfilled by the delivery of 4K content from sources located within the equipment rack. A UHDTV video switcher allowed for each of these devices to have their video feed sent through HDBaseT distribution delivering crystal clear video transmission that each 4K UHDTV rendered impressively well. Audio through a matrixed Control 4 amp allowed for variety of audio sources to be played in several locations at different volumes giving full flexibility in audio control.
Control 4 dimmers and switches were installed throughout the models giving a multitude of lighting scenes controlled through keypads, touchscreens, and mobile interfaces. These scenes were also automated to change based on occupancy, time of day, and natural lighting within the home. Upon exit the home, a button at the door puts the entire home’s lighting into an “away mode” ensuring all such lighting is turned off in every room, while turning back thermostats to conserve energy usage while away.
The installation and programming of a Yale door lock at the entrance provided an impressive means of control when entering or exiting the home. Certain codes were programmed into the lock to activate “profiles” for certain members of the household, or staff entering during specific times of the day.
All of this technology needed the easiest way in which to control the enormous amount of features it provided. Integrated Amazon Echo devices were installed and programmed to do just that. Voice activated commands in any of the bedrooms or common areas prompted the system to turn on audio, tune to specific channels on the TV, adjust the lighting and climate, and even lock the front door. Each such Echo device was further enhanced with the custom Futurian skins reminding each owner of the craftmanship behind the system that had been installed.
