The DarkStar® UST eFinity Screen absorbs up to 95% of overhead light replacing flat panel TVs with a larger-than-life image. The ultra-short throw design allows high lumen projectors to maximize light output resulting in superior picture quality, contrast, color temperature, diffusion uniformity, and size over costly 100” flat panel screens.

The growing trend in residential AV is for large projection displays to move out of the dark room and into the hub of a household’s activity.  People don’t necessarily want to waste floor space on a “dark theater” room devoted to just one thing and they don’t want to settle for a small video display.  This means that the projector and screen must now be used to fulfill the role traditionally held by flat panel TV sets.  This would require a projector and screen to deliver an even better picture performance with a larger-than-life image that dwarfs any large household TV at a fraction of the cost and cannot come with the hang-ups of a traditional projection array.  Likewise, a large +80-100” flat panel TV may require a structural engineer to determine if the wall can even bear the weight of such a product so even if you do want to super-size it; the options were limited, costly, and ambient light vulnerable until the launch of the DarkStar UST eFinity by EPV Screens.

The DarkStar® UST eFinity negates all these drawbacks by providing a safer, better installation without compromising on the quality of picture performance.  It is engineered to be used with UST ultra short throw projectors so that passing viewers won’t be stepping between the projector and screen. 

The innovative material utilizes a multiple-layered optical microstructure to filter out ambient light and up to 95% of overhead lighting. Additionally, the design greatly enhances color contrast and dynamic range while maintaining a 180° viewing angle. This means that the 0.5 gain material enhances sharp, clear picture quality with superb image brightness. The design features EPV’s trademarked EDGE FREE® internal framework with wrap-around material that also includes a sleek, 9mm bezel and variable color and mode LED backlighting kit.

The DarkStar® UST eFinity brings home the big screen by exceeding the image quality of a flat panel TV without the drawbacks a traditional projection setup has. It is crafted for use exclusively with ultra short throw projectors so that the shadow effect of viewers passing between the projector and screen is completely negated and the picture won’t be washed out by the milky effects of ambient light.

When used in a bright room, the DarkStar® UST provides stellar brightness and clarity.  It is also light enough to mount like any large picture frame, and unlike large flat-panel TV’s, no heavy lifting equipment or structural engineers are required.  Most importantly, the screen and projector combined will still dwarf a 100” flat panel TV at a fraction of the cost. 

Although the DarkStar® UST gives a superb bright room performance, when the room lighting is low, the specialized ambient light rejecting material will allow the projector to be run on eco- mode.  This means that the material itself can be used to greatly extend the operational lifespan of projector lamps by allowing them to run with a lower light output.  This will  even shave a bit off the monthly electric bill. 

The DarkStar® UST eFinity  has a stylish EDGE FREE® design that incorporates an internal framework with wrap-around material just like the projection screens used in luxury resorts.  The sheer design has the appearance of a large flat panel display without the issues and it will complement  virtually any interior décor. When not in use, a multi mode/color LED backlighting kit turns the screen in to a source of mood lighting that any custom home installation should have.
